Biography

TOM STERLING is an English actor, singer and brass musician. A graduate of The Royal Central School of Speech & Drama (Beatrice Lillie Scholar),  Tom completed his training by playing the title role of George in Stephen Sondheim's Sunday in the Park with George to great critical acclaim. In 2012 he was named as 'the expert's choice' by The Stage newspaper for his performances in the course showcase.

 Tom is currently appearing as Passarino/ Hairdresser in the 30th anniversary cast of THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA at Her Majesty's Theatre, London.

Theatre includes: Passarino/Hairdresser in THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA (Her Majesty's Theatre), Guy in GIRLFRIENDS (Union Theatre), Freddie Eynsford Hill in MY FAIR LADY (Kilworth House), Muffles in THE PIED PIPER (Workshop: National Theatre Studio), George in SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE (RCSSD).

Concert performances: WEST END HEROES (Dominion Theatre), THE 90TH SALZBURG MUSIC FESTIVAL (Felsenreitschule & Grosses Festspielhaus)and THE 12 TENORS (European tours: 2012/13 & 2014/15).

Film and television: NAZI MEGA STRUCTURES: HITLER'S MEGA SHIPS. ADR include: DARKEST HOUR, OLD BOYS, WONDER WOMAN, DENIAL, THE LOST CITY OF Z, TESTAMENT TO YOUTH.

Tom is also a brass musician (Cornet/ Trumpet & Tenor Horn) and composer/arranger. As an instrumentalist, he has played with numerous brass bands, orchestras and ensembles across the UK.  

Music arrangements include: The Phantom of the Opera's winning contribution (of "Rise Like A Phoenix) to West End Eurovision 2018, and "A Phantom Christmas Medley" for the MAD Trust Christmas Carol Concert Compositions include, "Orpheus"; a vocal quartet commissioned for renowned vocal coach Cicely Berry, and "Come Away Death": a vocal octet inspired by William Shakespeare’s poem of the same name, which also premièred at The Embassy Theatre and The Royal Festival Hall.

Prior to his training at Central, Tom read German at King's College, London, graduating with a BA (Hons) in 2011.
